Ambergris Caye and Belize are fabulous for sailing! Whether your trip is exploring the island in a 19 foot Lightning Day Sailor, racing a friend in one of the Hobie Cats, flying a hull on the Hobie Getaway, or just plain sailing to relax and enjoy the view, Ambergris Caye and Belize is your perfect spot! Warm, crystal clear water, steady winds, you just can’t beat Belize!
The reef located 2/3 mile offshore creates a flat water paradise for sailors. As the local saying goes, “there’s always a breeze in Belize” meaning you can nearly always get out and sail. On average the most consistently windy time is February through June with 12–20 knots most days.
